OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE

The Accommodation Assistant will execute housekeeping duties for the Nursing Home including preparing rooms for Residents and ensuring public areas are maintained to the highest standard. Working as part of the housekeeping function the Accommodation Assistant will provide the highest level of service in a friendly positive environment.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Carry out assigned housekeeping duties including Daily cleaning of the general areas and residents' rooms within the nursing home.
  • Cleaning, hoovering, polishing and moping of furnishing, bathrooms, bedrooms, living areas, windows, surfaces of corridors, common areas, nurse’s station, resident rooms and storage areas
  • Coordinating the collection, delivery and Assisting of laundry
  • Clean Centre facilities and equipment regularly.
  • Ensure the privacy, dignity and confidentiality of all residents
  • Monitor stock levels of all equipment and supplies, be mindful of supply use and avoid waste
  • Keep checklists and reports up to date
  • Maintain all areas in the Nursing Home to a high standard of cleanliness, tidiness & hygiene.
  • Domestic and hazardous waste disposal; ensure bins are collected, cleaned and kept in a hygienic manner at all times.
  • Proper use and storage of cleaning equipment and cleaning solutions.

HEALTH &SAFTEY

  • Attending to any spillages to avoid accident  
  • Assisting in the disposal of clinical waste in line with Nursing home policy
  • Application of ‘Manual Handling’ Techniques as trained
  • Compliance with fire safety regulations
  • Compliance with the Safety statement
  • Ensuring the work area is a safe environment for residents and visitors
  • Familiar with the Health and safety at work Act 2005
  • Report immediately to the Director of Nursing any illness of an infectious nature or accident incurred by a Resident, colleague, self or another
  • Compliance with H.A.C.C.P guidelines and all ‘Food Safety’ best practices
  • Report to the Director of Nursing or Catering Manager of any faulty appliances, damaged furniture, equipment or any potential hazard
  • Understand, and ensure the implementation of, the Nursing Home safety policy and Emergency and Fire procedures
  • Presented in Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) where applicable
  • Adherence to precautions identified in the infection control policy
  • In addition, there will be substantial training in legislative, Health & Safety and other job-related training provided on an on-going basis. 
  • The HR department will work closely with all staff to ensure that all necessary Training opportunities are fair and transparent for all staff.
