Role: Social Care Leader, Day Services

Duration of the post: Permanent Full Time

Location: Primarily based in Palmerstown, with responsibility to visit all other Stewarts sites

Reporting Relationship: Director of Care, Day Services or person nominated by them.

Job Purpose:

The primary purpose of this role is the efficient management of an assigned area of Day Services. The implementation of programmes for service users. The supervision and management of staff.

Remuneration:

Remuneration is in accordance with the Department of Health consolidated pay scales. 

Current Salary Scale: Social Care Leader : €52,441 - €61,241

Salaries and increments are paid in accordance with DOH scales

Annual Leave: 24 Days per annum

Working Week:

The hours allocated to this post are 39 hours per week with a 7.8-hour standard working day, exclusive of lunch breaks. The allocation of these hours will be at the discretion of the Director of Day Services and in accordance with the needs of the service.

Probation:

All employees will be subject to a probationary period of 6 months, with an extension if required to 9 months. This probationary period applies to all employees irrespective of their role or type of role.

Garda Vetting:

Stewarts will carry out Garda vetting on all new employees. An employee will not take up employment with the organisation until the Garda Vetting process has been completed and the organisation is satisfied that such an appointment does not pose a risk to the service users and employees.

References:

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Leadership

• Have the flexibility to work across all of Day Services to meet the needs of the service.
• Take the lead role in setting day services strategy for service user experience.
• Play an active role in the wider development of day services as required.
• Promote best practice.
• To follow correct procedure for all incidents / accidents.
• Keep accurate records.
• Communicate with the line managers daily and provide up-to-date service reports.
• Promote innovation in service delivery throughout day services.
• Promote person-centredness throughout the service.

Candidates must meet the following criteria relevant to the role:

• Degree (Hons) in Nursing, or Social Care Discipline or an equivalent qualification.
• Minimum of 3 years post qualification experience working in the area of intellectual disability
• Minimum of 1 year leadership and staff management experience and be able to demonstrate same
• Post graduate qualification in management is desirable.
• Demonstrate detailed knowledge of the sector, national policies and standards guiding the service.
