Job purpose
To support Consultants in the provision of ENT care to patients in Western Health & Social care Trust.
The post holder will be required to work under the supervision of the consultant staff and will be required to join the on-call (out-of-hours) rota.
The post holder will liaise with medical colleagues, nurses and other staff providing the range of services within the Trust.
Key responsibilities
The successful applicant will share the day-to day care of in-patients under the care of the ENT consultants, including participation in ward rounds, pre and post operative care of ENT patients, assist at Out-patient clinics conducted by each of the Consultant Otolaryngology and also to assist at operating sessions of the Consultant Otolaryngology.
Should take part in the General Postgraduate teaching. May be required to assist in the teaching of nurses.

The post holder will work as part of a team with a strong multidisciplinary emphasis. The importance of teamwork and good interpersonal / communication skills are emphasised as essential aspects of the post.
Doctors are encouraged to accrue evidence of departmental responsibility, particularly through a collaborative approach to ensuring adequate ward cover while allowing colleagues to take appropriate leave, participation in departmental meetings, working with consultants to organise (e.g. “office work” and audits of importance to service improvement), clinical administration and dealing with correspondence.
